Rita Torres (1977) is an independent researcher and composer from Portugal. She holds a European PhD in Science and Technology of the Arts from the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP, 2016) and degrees in Chemical Engineering, Guitar, Musicology/Music Informatics and Composition. Torres was an Assistant Researcher at INET-md (University of Aveiro), a Research Fellow at CESEM (NOVA University Lisbon; University of Évora), a First-stage Researcher at CITAR (UCP) and a Guest Researcher at IMWI (Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe) and IMA (now Hertzlab, ZKM | Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe). Her work is focused on artistic research centred on instrumental sound production.
